<image:caption>Miguela Angeles is tired. Tired of her abuela keeping secrets, especially about her heritage. Tired of her small Vermont town and hanging out at the same places with the same friends she’s known forever. So when another boring Sunday trip to church turns into a run-in with Sam, a mysterious hottie in town on vacation, Mica seizes the opportunity to get closer to him. It’s not long before she is under Sam’s spell and doing things she’s never done before, like winning all her martial arts sparring matches—and lying to her favorite people. The more time Mica spends with Sam, the more weird things start to happen, too. Like terrifying-visions-of-the-world-ending weird. Mica’s gut instincts keep telling her something is off, yet Sam is the most exciting guy she’s ever met. But when Mica discovers his family’s roots, she realizes that instead of being in the typical high school relationship, she’s living in a horror novel. She has to leave Sam, but will ending their relationship also bring an end to everything she knows and everyone she loves? Clever, hilarious, and steeped in supernatural suspense, Breakup From Hell will keep you hooked until the last page. Out now from HarperTeen. Order your copy today!</image:caption>

Isla Larsen Sanchez's life begins to unravel when her father passes away. Instead of being comforted at home in New Jersey, her mother starts leaving her in Puerto Rico with her grandmother and great-aunt each summer like a piece of forgotten luggage. When Isla turns eighteen, her grandmother, a great storyteller, dies. It is then that Isla discovers she has a gift passed down through her family's cuentistas. The tales of dead family storytellers are brought back to life, replaying themselves over and over in front of her. At first, Isla is enchanted by this connection to the Sanchez cuentistas. But when Isla has a vision of an old murder mystery, she realizes that if she can't solve it to make the loop end, these seemingly harmless stories could cost Isla her life.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Category Five is a new supernatural YA thriller from Ann Dávila Cardinal, set against the backdrop of a post-hurricane Puerto Rico. After the hurricane, some see destruction and some smell blood. The tiny island of Vieques, located just off the northeastern coast of the main island of Puerto Rico, is trying to recover after hurricane Maria, but the already battered island is now half empty. To make matters worse, as on the main island, developers have come in to buy up the land at a fraction of its worth, taking advantage of the island when it is down. Lupe, Javier, and Marisol are back to investigate a series of murders that follow in the wake of a hurricane and in the shadow of a new supernatural threat. Order your copy today!</image:caption>

But when her husband dies unexpectedly, she finds herself completely broken. Taking a leave from the university, Tere hopes that she can mourn her husband and get back on her feet, but instead, she spends a year consumed by grief. Until the day she levitates. Suddenly, Tere's life is thrown into disarray, and the repeated incidents of levitation not only make her question her sanity, but also put her in danger. She decides she will do anything to stop them. So when she's reminded that her family is related to the renowned levitating mystic, Saint Teresa of Avila, she leaves the refuge of her home and travels to Spain, hoping to find answers. But Saints can be elusive, and not all answers are easily found. Tere will soon have to decide whether to remain shrouded in her grief, or open her heart to a world where we need no wings to fly… Coming September 10, 2024 from Sourcebooks!</image:caption>

<image:caption>An anthology of original new horror stories edited by Bram Stoker Award winners Vince Liaguno and Rena Mason, horror writers from a multitude of underrepresented backgrounds will be putting a new, terrifying spin on what it means to be “the other.” People, places, and things once considered normal will suddenly appear different, striking a deeper, much more primal, chord of fear. Are our eyes playing tricks on us, or is there something truly sinister lurking under the surface of what we thought we knew? And who among us who is really of the other, after all?</image:caption>

<image:title>Press & News - We Need No Wings earns a starred review from Library Journal!</image:title>
<image:caption>We Need No Wings. By Ann Dávila Cardinal Sept. 2024. 304p. Sourcebooks, paper, $16.99 (9781728258508); e-book (9781728258515) It’s been a year since Tere’s husband of more than 30 years passed away unexpectedly, and her life has stalled in a miasma of grief. Taking a leave of absence from her teaching job at a university has given her room to mourn but has also left her feeling unmoored. Then one day, the unimaginable happens: she starts levitating. Feeling untethered both emotionally and now physically, Tere decides to leave her small town in Vermont and travel to Spain to research her ancestor, Saint Teresa of Avila, who was also rumored to levitate. But as Tere delves into the saint's history, she learns more about herself than she ever imagined was possible. Newfound friendships and surprising encounters help Tere begin to reimagine what her life might look like in the future. Readers who appreciate novels that focus on found family and women of a certain age discovering new truths about themselves will enjoy this touching story of flourishing during life’s second act. — Halle Carlson</image:caption>
